Codecademy

When I decided to make the switch to software engineering, I wanted to give myself as much study time as possible, so I worked in the evenings and at the weekend whilst focussing my weekdays on the Full Stack Software Engineer Path on Codecademy.

I found the course to be extremely comprehensive. The projects were very engaging and gave a really good insight into the kind of problems I would be solving as a software engineer.

After completing the course and moving from freelance work to being a Full Stack Software Engineer at Raytheon, I was lucky enough to be asked by Codecademy if I would be in one of their adverts. In return they have kindly given me a lifetime membership to their platform. I find this incredibly valuable for continuing my education and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, concepts and best practices.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

In 2022 I took the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam and passed first time. I found the course to be very helpful with my work at the time and it gave me some good foundational knowledge of cloud computing.

I have worked professionally with Microsoft Azure and Google's Cloud Platform too. This has given me a good wide knowledge of those top 3 cloud providers and deep knowledge in many of the services they offer.

University of Derby

I studied Music Technology and Production at Derby University and finished with a 2:1. The course was very technical with modules encompassing acoustics, electronics, music theory, music production and sound design. I really enjoyed the course and it was a great foundation for my career in music as well as tech.

Derby College

I have a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology from Derby College and finished with a triple distinction after 2 years. The course was fantastic and it was here that I really developed my love for Apple products and technology in general. A highlight for me was learning the intricacies of analogue to digital conversion
